Decided to come here as I was visiting for a few days from California, wow! Definitely left me amazed, true authentic Afghan food and really great customer service. Great vibes! Busy as well, a busy restaurant is always a good sign!
Smell when you walk in is wonderful. Tachmid was so attentive and our lunch was great. I was craving a roasted savory lamb shank and was not disappointed. My entire entree was delightful. Ordered: Kabuli Palao With Lamb Shank Qabuli palao rice with lamb shank & chopped tomato salad. Comes with naan and extra sauce from the glaze. Also served with both green chutney & white sauce. Also ordered a 1/4 lb Burger with seasoned fries (white sauce, seasoning and a red sauce) This was exactly what I was craving. There is a 100% chance of a return. **** HIGHLY RECOMMENDED ****
I definitely recommend the eggplant, bolani and dumpling! The bread is fabulous and house made!
First time trying this type of food. Really enjoyed the Bolani, Matui, and Lamb Kabob combo. The food was very fresh and sauces complimented the dish. Very honest and friendly service as well. I would come here again!
Came in today to do a take out order for Mantu and Badamjan(fried eggplant). Both items were very delicious! First, the Mantu is basically a dumpling type bun filled with meat along with tomato paste, yogurt, lentils, and spices. The serving you receive is big enough to be a meal on its own. And it's incredibly satisfying as well! The Badamjan with Naan was amazing as well! They also have Kebob, rice, and baklava. The location was clean and well kept. Definitely recommend trying this location out. You will not be disappointed!
I ordered the lamb kebab combo with hummus and the mantu. Love it exceptionally tasty. The bed of rice that the kebab was in was a very nice surprise, very fragrant and flavorful. Everyone there is very friendly. And I will have to come back one evening for the buffet.
I was in the area and needed a place to grab lunch, I saw other reviews on Yelp! And decided to try this restaurant out! The aroma hits you immediately of yummy flavors and you can see the marinated meats in the front display. The ambiance is casual, with plenty of seating and they also offer to go as well. Service was a bit slow, but it was because they were preparing a catering order. Otherwise the gentleman at the front was pleasant and friendly. I got the kobideb w naan- it was delicious!!! The kebab was fresh off the grill and steaming when places on the naan. And the naan was soft and was able to capture all the juices from the kebab perfectly. The portion was large and super satisfying!!! Glad I stopped by and got try some amazing food!
How did we find this place? The car salesman who was helping us to buy a car for our newly anointed college kid, is from Afghanistan. Naturally, as food lovers, we asked him where we could find authentic Afghan food in the Metroplex. Without hesitation he said, Express Kabob. The ambiance at Express is decent. It's nothing to brag about, but it was clean. You approach the counter to order and then you find your seat. The menu is pretty much all Kabob's; beef, chicken, and lamb. We ordered all three with rice. Not being someone that really knows his Afghan food, it's hard to say how authentic the food is. But.. it was delicious. The food was a bit more subtle than Indian or Pakistani food, but it was still robust with flavor. We ordered the beef spicy. Though I wouldn't consider it spicy, my wife definitely picked up a little on the heat. All the proteins were cooked really well. The rice was really good too. The guy that brought us our food came back several times to make sure we had everything we needed. This was a pretty cool surprise because the place is not really setup as a full service restaurant. For the price, and the opportunity to eat something a little different, it's a great visit. I think we spent $50 for 3 of us and we left full.
If you're looking for really good and favorable afghan food, try Express Kabob. For appetizers I always get the following: 1. Mantu (must try) 2. Bolani (fried bread with potato filling) 3. Bademjan (eggplant) (must try) For the main course I get the following 1. chapli kabob with spinach and Mediterranean salad and rice 2. Koobideh kabob with Mediterranean salad and humus 3. Chapli kabob burger Their food is amazing. The service is friendly and the ambience is quiet. The restaurant is clean
